History

An illustrious history since 1937

Falkenberg Salmon Smoke-house was founded in 1980 by Per-Arne Korshag, who comes from a family of fishmongers. Per-Arne’s parents managed a fish shop in the centre of Falkenberg from 1937-1980.
Per-Arne started to work in the fish shop when he was a young man, but took the opportunity to escape from the shop by starting to smoke fish that were left over from the previous day. Through visiting”Herr Stenberg” at the fine old Stenberg Salmon Smoke-house in The Old Town in Falkenberg, Per-Arne developed his fish smoking.
Without his parent’s knowledge Per-Arne bought a refrigerator,”on tick” for 50 Swedish crowns from the town scrap dealer. He reconstructed the refrigerator into a small hobby smoke house, which he put in the garden. He made many mistakes when smoking and the flames rose sky high, but Per-Arne refused to give up.
